Art Deco Wardrobe

The shape of this 1930’s wardrobe with tassel handles, curved doors and wood features just screamed Art deco to me. I didn’t have to think about the design, I just followed the curves and picked the colours.

Inside the original wardrobe all the shelves were carefully labeled, and it had some lovely features including a tie rack and stud holder. Now, I’m not sure many people wear studs these days, but I had to put it back in along with the tie rack as a nod to the original.

Painting the inside gold and brightening up the old metal features with gold gilding wax gave the whole piece that decadent deco look I was aiming for.
