Blue Drawers

I wish I had a photo of these drawers before I painted them as their transformation is my absolute favourite to date. Originally from the 70’s, these drawers were a sickly lacquered yellow pine begging for a new look.

I moved on to these straight after painting the Art deco wardrobe. I had been enjoying using blue and gold together and I’d bought some gorgeous ceramic handles that I knew would work well on this piece.

When I started blending the blues from dark to lighter in the middle, it reminded me of a forest in the moonlight. I had a collection of fern and leaf stencils which I added around the edges in a dark navy to compliment the blended blues.

Gold accents and those cute ceramic handles completed the look. I know I shouldn’t, but I love these drawers so much that I have to keep them. I will create another similar piece to sell.
